    Research Assistant

    I traced Frontex’s operations on the West African route from Operation Hera (2006) to 2025, using Frontex evaluation reports, operational plans and Council documents. I also tested whether EU-funded enforcement in transit countries reduced irregular migration, using Frontex, IOM and MMC data (2000–2025). The data showed displaced routes rather than a reduction in flows: Central Mediterranean crossings fell 80% in 2018, while the Atlantic route hit a record of ca. 47,000 in 2024.

    Along the way, I condensed hundreds of pages of reports and working papers into structured summaries, and briefed the professor in writing and orally every two weeks.

    I mapped around 30 migration and security agreements (1987–2024) between Spain, Italy and France and nine North and West African states. I classified each by legal type and traced it to its official text or record (BOE, Légifrance, Gazzetta Ufficiale).

    Finally, I decoded a German-language survey of ca. 900 respondents of Turkish origin (36 questions with branching logic) using its codebook, and built Excel charts on language use, citizenship, trust in institutions and voting in German and Turkish elections by age group.

    University Teaching Assistant & Writing Center Tutor

    Dickinson College — Italian Department, Chair Professor Nicoletta Marini-Maio

    I taught five classes a week to ca. 75 students in beginner, intermediate and advanced Italian, covering grammar, culture and geography, and graded written exams while studying full time. I also tutored students in academic Italian writing at the Multilingual Writing Center.

    Outside the classroom, I ran the department’s Italian film series (3–4 films per semester), opening each screening with a short talk on the director, the setting, why the film matters and the awards it won. I also co-organised over 20 cultural events with department faculty.

    Agriturismo La Curtis

    Agriturismo La Curtis is my family’s farmhouse in the Marche, and I have worked there since I was 9. Growing up there, I have always been around people from different cultures.

    For the past five years, I have managed bookings on Booking.com and Airbnb and registered guests with the police and the Marche Region. I also rebuilt and now manage the website, handle public relations, and play live music for our guests.
